Market types

Not every market is a binary crypto poll. Hexio surfaces several shapes — here's how each behaves.

Binary crypto polls

The core product: UP or DOWN on a price beating a snapshot, on a fixed clock (5m / 15m / 1h / 4h). One YES token, one NO token, settles to $1.00 / $0.00 at expiry. See Markets & intervals for the round mechanics.

Binary YES/NO markets — and over/under, higher/lower, etc.

Outside the crypto polls, most prediction markets are binary too — but the outcomes aren't always “Yes” and “No”. A goals-in-the-match market is OVER / UNDER, a price-spread market is HIGHER / LOWER, a temperature market is ABOVE / BELOW. The order entry reads the actual outcome strings from Polymarket and labels the buttons accordingly — the position selector, the action button (e.g. Buy $25 OVER) and the SL/TP description all use the market's real outcome names instead of a generic YES/NO.

Multi-outcome markets

Some events have more than two answers — e.g. “What will happen before GTA VI?” with a dozen sub-outcomes. Each outcome is its own YES/NO contract; only one (or several independent ones) can resolve true.

  • The probability chart plots every outcome as its own line, on a fixed 0–100¢ scale.
  • Resolved outcomes (≥97¢ or ≤3¢) are drawn dashed/dimmed and sorted to the bottom of the legend.
  • The outcome board on the right lists each sub-market with its own price, volume and status.
  • Pick an outcome to load its order entry, order book and activity.

Multi-date markets

A single question often has several deadline variants — “by Jun 30”, “by Sep 30”, “by Dec 31”, “by Jun 30, 2027”. Each date is a distinct market with its own price and liquidity. Use the date selector at the top of the market to switch between them; the chart, book and holders all re-scope to the selected date.

Longer-dated variants almost always trade at a higher probability than shorter ones for the same event — the extra time is worth something. A flat or inverted term structure is a signal.

Upcoming & future polls

Crypto rounds are pre-created before they go live. A future round can already be tradeable — you're taking a position before the Beat Price is even snapshotted. The trading sidebar shows the scheduled window; the round flips to live automatically with no reload.

Past & resolved markets

Closed rounds don't disappear. Their chart, order book history, holders, top traders and activity stay browsable, and a Resolved badge shows the winning side. On crypto charts, the Past Markets overlay paints prior rounds as green/red zones for streak and mean-reversion analysis.

A market can still accept orders briefly after the event is decided — Polymarket's CLOB stays open during UMA's challenge window. See Resolution & UMA.
